Katungulu Mwendwa

Katungulu Mwendwa is one of Kenya’s young prominent designers, having studied a BA in fashion design in both Barcelona and the UK she creates designs that are both comfortable and beautiful, with the use of great fabrics. Fusing the traditional with the modern to create contemporary almost ethereal garments.

“Katungulu Mwendwa is inspired by African art, traditional cultures and crafts, embodying them in classic, yet modern cuts and techniques exposing the two very completely different worlds that can co- incide together.”

Here at Adele Dejak we are all about supporting and promoting local design. The talented Katungulu Mwendwa designs are now available at our village market store. Come through, support made in Kenya and get yourself some stunning pieces!

The Thorn Tree Project X Adele Dejak

We recently donated some of our pieces to the The Thorn Tree Project (www.thethorntreeproject.org) for their 12th Annual African Bazaar & Silent Auction, an annual project that was held in New York at the Urban Zen Centre on the 5th of June to help raise funds for education.

“the thorn tree project is 100% volunteer run organization established to help the Samburu people of Northern Kenya realize their dream to provide an education for their children.”

A special thanks to Wiena Lin who is a project coordinator at The Thorn Tree Project.

The brand is always happy to be involved in projects that empower others. Thank you Thorn Tree for involving us in such a great cause!
