In just a few days our new and exciting capsule collection “Amandla”, will be released. Amandla which in Zulu means power, encourages us to embrace our inner powers, to be strong and radiate like stars. Be power. This is something so important in a continent which has suffered so much, yet always had the strength to rise above and shine.   The collection has been designed by our London College of Fashion intern Amanda Jeneby in collaboration with Adele Dejak. Amanda who has been interning with the brand from the beginning of June, has created a collection inspired by her experience…

“I see photography as that eye-catching moment that’s passing, and one which is authentic.” Adele Dejak. In our last blog, Photographic works using nature as a backdrop, we saw Adele being both a designer and photographer. She is used to carrying her camera almost everywhere, making her job her hobby. She always quotes “I love sharing my work as much as possible; I can see the most beautiful view in the world, but if I don’t capture it with my camera and publish it, it’s like I didn’t see it at all.” I got to work with Randy Gowon, one of my…

Ever heard of the old quote, right? “A Jack of all trades, a master of none?” This quote sits perfectly well with Adele Dejak. We can comfortably say that she is a Jack of all trades, a master of none. Adele is one passionate lady who loves going beyond and above when it comes to her promoting and positioning her brand. They say keep reaching for the stars as the sky is the limit. You will always find Adele trying new things. Did you know that other than designing her jewellery pieces and handling photography she organizes events? Well, now…

‘If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere you go.’ Van Gogh I declare the world to be the most profound, beautiful thing that ever existed. Its beauty as well as its entities do have an effect on our senses. But what is it about nature that makes us declare of its beauty? Nature always has a way of bringing a lot of beauty into our lives just as there is so much around for us to see, touch and hear. No matter how many times you look at something, it is always different. Adele tries to mix…

My Photoshoots from 2015 – Part II

design, design process, Photography, Photoshoots | 2 Comments

The first photoshoot I organized upon my return to Kenya after nearly 4 years in Uganda was for #My Heart Beats Africa campaign. I collaborated with Purple Vase photographers Mohamed Abbas & Joseph Baraza. The brief was to capture the essence of my African aesthetic in a way that resonates with everyone. Animal print fabrics were draped around the 2 models. I wanted a raw African feel that would capture the essence of my ‘rebranding’ Africa journey. The crazy thing about this shoot was that the best photos were done the last hour when the light was going and everyone…

My Photoshoots from 2015

Every time I take photos or commission a photographer for a photo shoot there is always such eager anticipation for the end results. I always get a buzz when I start to download the photos on my computer. The anticipation is always electric. Sometimes shots that were taken that I had little expectations turn out to be beyond my expectations. Time is spent selecting a theme and a mood. I create mood boards for the direction I would like the shoot to progress. Sometimes the journey can be unexpected, bumpy & full of challenges with long hours and preparation. During the last…
